There is simply no reason a candidate should spend millions of dollars on a political campaign in an age when we can transmit messages and information at virtually no cost on the internet.  Good old-fashioned shoe leather efforts are very effective too – walking precincts and talking to the people who will be entitled to hold you accountable if you’re elected.

I pledge to be a candidate who leads by example in this area.   My mom, a wise and amazing woman, taught me how to make a dollar stretch and to make do with what you already have rather than rushing to buy something new, and I will bring these frugal habits to my own campaign spending.  If elected, I will advocate for reform of campaign funding, including a greater emphasis on public rather than private financing of campaigns.
