Our country needs comprehensive immigration reform that will reduce uncertainty and provide a clear path to legalization, protect workers’ rights, and help families stay together.  Our enforcement efforts should prioritize removal of individuals who pose a threat of harm to our communities, not law-abiding residents who have been productive members of society.

I support efforts such as the Agricultural Worker Program Act, which would provide undocumented farmworkers with a pathway to citizenship, improved working conditions, and an opportunity to live and work without constant fear of deportation.   It also would help stabilize the agricultural workforce upon which millions of Americans depend for food production, and would strengthen communities by removing the fear of participating in society, interacting with law enforcement, and accessing needed services.
